The company was founded in December 1993 by some entrepreneurs from several Calabrian ports who have carried out the main activity of maritime agents.

Together they decided to create a unique company in order to meet and satisfy the changing needs of the market of maritime traffic with the development of the container terminal at GioiaTauro. The principal activity of Serport is Maritime agents but they also offer the following services:
